Description
This book in its original form was published in 1955 on the completion of eighty years’ service by The Mission to Lepers. The present edition adds the story of recent developments up to the year 1960, and contains material gathered on the author’s most recent tours in Africa and Asia, including visits to the new projects in Korea and Nepal.
While the book is not a history of the Mission, and is written from a personal angle, Mr. Miller writes out of his long experience of the work, and tells something of how the Mission has grown as an instrument of God’s compassion, in bringing healing of body, social reclamation, and spiritual hope.
“If I at times appear to write more about people than about leprosy,” says the author. “that is because I am anxious that this work should never be regarded as impersonal; its first and final importance is because it is a work by people for people. It is in this way that it becomes a bridge. It is a bridge which opens up a way for people from bondage to liberty. It brings them healing. It is an instrument of unity- and wholeness. It is a Bridge of Compassion.”
