Description
Half a year has passed since the mysterious suicide of Blaine Avery’s husband, Martin. Six traumatic months during which Blaine has been grieving widow, murder suspect, and more recently, pneumonia patient.
Now though, her problems seem to be behind her and Blaine is at last looking forward to rebuilding her life: settling back into the large house she shares with Robin, the teenage daughter of Martin’s first marriage, and returning to her job as English teacher at the local high school.
But more deaths are in store. And the bad news for Blaine is that an unfortunate pattern has begun to emerge. One that is reawakening the suspicions of those who thought she killed her husband. For each murder has been dressed up to look like suicide, and each of the victims just happens to have been discovered by Blaine herself.
If only Blaine could convince them of the one piece of evidence so far that proves her innocence. After each incident she has received a telephone call from the murderer consisting of a song linked with the latest victim. A song as hauntingly simple as
Ring around a rosy
Pocket full of posy
Ashes, ashes
We all fall down.
