This fascinating book is a light and humorous exploration down the centuries, dipping into past legends and mysteries from the pagan gods to the Greek Orthodox Church. Jill Dudley was born in Baghdad and educated in England. Her first play was performed by the Leatherhead Repertory Company, since when she has written plays and short stories for radio. She returned to Iraq in 1956 when her husband was working out there and after the Iraqi revolution they came back to England where they bought a dairy far. When they retired from farming in 1990 they travelled around Greece and a number of her travel articles have appeared in the national newspapers. Ye Gods! Is the result of these journeys. Jill Dudley’s second book Holy Smoke is due out in 2007. It is an account of her travels to Turkey and Egypt where she examines Judaism, Christianity and Islam, their legends and festivals.
