Description
In 1992, the first Australia All Over book was published and became one of the year’s top three Australian bestsellers. Now, after much demand, Macca has compiled Book Two, and once again it captures the uniquely Australian flavour of his ABC Radio program that has a weekly, Australia-wide listenership of over two million. The book has stories, poems and letters from listeners about animals, storms, droughts, trains, country cafes, mothers and Mother’s Day; Macca’s interviews with program ‘favourites’ such as Alex Pike and Gilbert, and his memorable talks with Bill Fordyce, Alan Renouf, Eleanor Watson and ‘Oppy’ Opperman. And, of course, the book wouldn’t be complete without a selection of the ‘Why I live where I live’ letters and poems. More than 75000 people read the first book and many of them wrote thank-you letters to Macca, urging him to compile another. Well, here it is. As before, it represents only a fraction of the thousands of letters and phone calls the radio program receives, but as Nicole Winton from Barooga, New South Wales, said of the first book, it will remind people what a wonderful country Australia is.
